Here we go!

I've got a warmer :)

This video made them relaxed. Especially,"He is a fisherman" part was very funny for them :)

After the video, I introduced the jobs with the flashcards

( Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos.)

I sticked them on the board and we repeated them.

then we played the game seen in the video:

activity 4: magic eyes

And then;

we asked the question " What's your job?"

 All the students gave the answers with different jobs.

We prepared  "fortune teller plates" and we had much fun.

students imagined abot the 20 years later and wrote sentences about their jobs.

that's was fun :)

You need:
1. colored papers

BANDITS and SHERIFFS

CLASSROOM OBJECTS

Hi again!

This week I introduced classroom objects to my students.

I used flashcards, geniue objects and poster.

We repeated the words for the correct pronunciation and played a game for the effective learning. I’m working with young learners so I generally use videos, games songs and etc.

I believe in the power of the games with young learners.

I’m here with a game again.

We played and had really fun with the game.

“BANDITS and SHERIFFS”

Here is the original of the game:

1.       Split the classroom into two teams.

2.       Give each sheriff nd bandit a number.

3.       Place the classroom objects in the middle of the teams.

4.       Call out and object and say anumber. Eg. Pencil-5

5.       Bandits and the sheriff run. If the bandit manage to pick up the object and run back to his place, s/he calls out “I’ve got….”

6.       If the sheriff manage to catch the bandit, S/he call out “I’ve caught….”

( I’ve made little change here: Sheriff asked the question “What’s that? The bandit answered: “That’s a ….”)

7.       The game continues until all the objects have been stolen.

8.       Then 2nd round starts with exchanging roles. 

( We drew lots to determine the groups)

Ps: Be ready for the noise and distruption by the other teachers. Don’t forget to make the rules clear for all the students before playing the game otherwise there will be a chaos in the classroom.

With the morning group we pushed to play outside because of the noise :D

No matter where we were, we had fun!

What did we learn by the game?

     Recognize the classroom objects

  Ask the question “what’s that?” and give answers.

Revise the numbers 

What happened in the end?

He had a lot Fun!

Are you Ready?

Hi everyone!!!

Are you ready for the semester?

YESSSSSS!!! I’M!

Puppets, photo frame (is welknown and popular in Turkey), flascards (are my best friends J ) are all ready for the students..

I  met 4th and 2nd graders first time :)

(a nice present from one of my friends <3 )

And the first impression on the students will create the attidue against the lesson so this first meeting was very special for me and for the students.

The ice breakers are also very important for the first meeting.

This year I chose “True or False” activity to break the ice :D

-          Draw a Picture/ Cartoon of yourself

-          Write 5 info about yourself – some true/ some false-

-          Ask the which can be true or false

-          Take notes about the answers

-          Explain the correct info

-          At the end ask students to create the same thing about themselves.

We really had fun

MY BODY (Body Parts) Part-2

Hold on Tight!

 The 2nd part is coming with two games and a monster craft

 :)

1st game is coming:

Run Run Run and Touch

( I made up the name :P)

1. Put the flashcards on a desk.

2. Say the name of one body part.

3. Students have only 10 seconds to find and touch the correct card.

4. The 1st student who touch the correct card say another body part.

5. And the game continues till they will be exhausted :)  (approximately 10 min)

2nd one is a song to rewiev the body parts.

Sing the song, dance, act and enjoy it :)

The result:

I like doing crafts in the classroom.

We made monsters together 

and let the monsters talk 

They learned and practiced " Have got" :)

We had a lot of fun :)

MY BODY (Body Parts) Part-1

Hellooo!

 Our topic is 

"My Body".

My lovely 2nd graders learned most of the body parts. 

They are really good at "eyes, head, fingers,mouth, shoulders".

But "tooth/teeth, Foot/feet" are quite complicated for them.

What did I do to teach?

(not very different :))

I sang songs, played games, drew pictures etc :P

I stepped into the classroom with the song:

" Head Shoulders Knees and Toes".

 All of them surprised and confused. It was really funny :)

I acted the song say it one more time in front them.

 Some of them guessed our topic.

Then I showed the flashcards and named my body parts at the same time.

After flashcards, it was the time for my drawing :)

 I drew Wilma -the flintstones- because it's really easy to draw.

I drew and tagged the parts but I didn't write the names. I asked the students and they said the parts they remembered. We wrote them together.

The students drew and wrote them on their notebooks.

CLASSROOM OBJETS AND "HOW MANY?"

The subject "Classroom objects" is one of my best subjects to teach because we are in a classroom and we have many geniue materials around :)

But this isn't satisfying for me so I always support the subjects with the flascards.

And ta-ta-ta-taaaaa:

We practiced it shortly .

CLASSROOM LANGUAGE
And I think the best way to teach the classroom language is TPR. 2nd or 4th graders it doesn't matter, all the students like the way. During the class while we were learning the classsroom language, They were having fun as if we were playing games :))

And we have a hand out.

It focuses on spelling  the classroom objects and recognizing the classroom language phrases :)

HOW MANY?
The most enjoyable part of the subject for the students is this part. because we played a game together. First, I prepared the cards you see in the picture.

I talked about the plural "-'s" briefly.

Now, the game is starting :))

1. Use a Tack-it adhesive and pin the cards anywhere in the classroom.

2. Group the students according to the card groups. For instance, I have five different card group so I grouped them into five :)

3. Draw 5 circle for each group and write word for cards which they will pick.

4. Give the groups only 30 seconds to pick up the cards. They have to pick the card and put it into the correct circle.

5. Choose an energetic music to make the process more exciting.

6. Check the cards and give a feedback - I use stars to motivate 2nd graders-.

Now, you have this image on the board.

Then, ask the students "how many pencils? and count the pencils together. Now, write the quantity of the pencils. Repeat this for each kind of card. 

Then, write the questions on the board and answer them with your students. It really worked in my classes. Many of my students can say the quantity without any hesitation.

I used different colors for cards to practice the colors at the same time :)

DID I DO ALL THESE THINGS IN TWO CLASSES?

Of course NOT :) I spent 3 weeks which means 6 English classes (40 min. X 6 )

P.S. : Be ready for the interruption during the game because there will be a little (?) more noise in the classroom :)
