We used colored art paper, glue and different decoration materials.
I grouped the students into 2 or 3 groups in each classroom. So, they were able to understand and learn : helping others, sharing ideas and materials, taking responsibility, being patient... and colors :)
I'll share all the posters to give you some idea.
Please do not criticize the posters because they were created by 2nd graders ;)

Now, they can say the color they like and name all main colors :)
Yesterday was my birthday :) I 'm 27 :). And I gonna write about our birthday cards.
the "Birthday" topic always reminds me that song:
The Lyrics: Happy Birthday to You
We sing happy birthday to you And may all your dreams come true We sing happy birthday to you And may all your dreams come true
Oh ho ho ho ho This is your birthday song Oh ho ho ho ho Celebration all night long Oh ho ho ho ho May all your dreams come true We sing all together: happy birthday to you
Happy birthday we sing to you May all your dreams come always true Happy birthday we sing to you Forever and ever
Happy birthday, celebration Party night, come feel the vibration Lights are bright, we're feeling alright We're dancing til the morning light Happy birthday, celebration Everybody get the temptation One again, this is your night And everyone feels right
It's a perfect motivation Feel the vibe, enjoy the fascination All your friends are here tonight Happy anniversary, we hold you tight It's a perfect situation Hale and hearty what a combination Once again, this is your night And everyone feels right

Oh my lovely 2nd graders :))
During two classes they could just say these two sentences.
And they made birthday cards for a friend. They used colored art paper and crayon. They used their imagination.
Lovely cards :)
Guess: What's that brown thing in the following picture?
(It's hard :p)
Nooooo! Not a bird :)
Okey! It's an airplane wishing a happy birthday :D
The subject "Classroom objects" is one of my best subjects to teach because we are in a classroom and we have many geniue materials around :)
But this isn't satisfying for me so I always support the subjects with the flascards.
And ta-ta-ta-taaaaa: "What's this?" We practiced it shortly .
CLASSROOM LANGUAGE And I think the best way to teach the classroom language is TPR. 2nd or 4th graders it doesn't matter, all the students like the way. During the class while we were learning the classsroom language, They were having fun as if we were playing games :)) And we have a hand out. It focuses on spelling the classroom objects and recognizing the classroom language phrases :)
HOW MANY? The most enjoyable part of the subject for the students is this part. because we played a game together. First, I prepared the cards you see in the picture.
I talked about the plural "-'s" briefly. Now, the game is starting :)) 1. Use a Tack-it adhesive and pin the cards anywhere in the classroom.
2. Group the students according to the card groups. For instance, I have five different card group so I grouped them into five :) 3. Draw 5 circle for each group and write word for cards which they will pick. 4. Give the groups only 30 seconds to pick up the cards. They have to pick the card and put it into the correct circle.
5. Choose an energetic music to make the process more exciting. 6. Check the cards and give a feedback - I use stars to motivate 2nd graders-. Now, you have this image on the board.
Then, ask the students "how many pencils? and count the pencils together. Now, write the quantity of the pencils. Repeat this for each kind of card.
Then, write the questions on the board and answer them with your students. It really worked in my classes. Many of my students can say the quantity without any hesitation.
I used different colors for cards to practice the colors at the same time :)
DID I DO ALL THESE THINGS IN TWO CLASSES?
Of course NOT :) I spent 3 weeks which means 6 English classes (40 min. X 6 )
P.S. : Be ready for the interruption during the game because there will be a little (?) more noise in the classroom :) I hope it helps you.
My students and I really like making our new phrases watch(NPW) -this is what we call it- :)
The aim of this watch is clear: to make the learners remember what they have learned during the last class. For example; we learned the greeting phrases last week and we made NPW. They wore it during the last week.
So, they could see the phrases again and again which means they have practiced the phrases at least a few times ;) and now many of them can say and write the phrases correctly.
The best point is that: The students like reviewing what they learn because it's just a game and fun for them ;)
HOW TO MAKE A NPW?
It's really easy. I use a plastic water bottle's bottom and draw a circle. I cut it as you see in the picture.
Then students write the new phrases in the circle. And the enjoyable part is the decorating time :) The students decorate the watches.
I always wanted to write about what's happening in my classes as I really love sharing ideas :)
I will sometimes talk about my current activities or sometimes go back and find some old enjoyable materials to share. It may be a performance task or a poster or a simple chain drill and etc.
You may know about me ;)
Who am I?
Of Course! I'm an English teacher in Turkey <3. I love teaching. And I really enjoy teaching with different materials videos songs and bla bla bla :))
I'm trying my best to teach at least one thing tonthe learners. It's sometimes tiring :( but when you reach your aim, it's priceless :) (This is my first post and it's exciting)
