TEACHING COLORS 2015

COLORS

Entrance with a song and dance with students :)

After we got tired, the students picked up their notebooks and took note the colors wich ı introduced by the flascards.

we repeated the colors for the correct pronunciation.

We sang a song together:

And we asked the question " What's your favourite color?"

One of our topic is the question above and answering it "I like ............"

This song best fitted on our topic.

I had simple materials for sorting colors with the phrase "I like......." and we played a game together.

I gave the students colorful paper balls and stuck my hungry family members on the board.

Then I said one color  eg. "I like Pink"
The students who had the pink ran and fed the correct family member.

Don't worry about the noise and try to enjoy the activity.
and Ooops!  Be ready for the distruption! :)

By this game we practiced the colors and had fun.

We prepared colorful umbrellas for writing activity on " I like ......"

Each students wrote the color they like and pinned it under the umbrella  as you see below:

We displayed them on our bulletin board.

now It's time for the " What color is it?

first of all I chose to use authentic materials in the classroom so I stuck colored object on the board and asked the question.

Now it's the pupils turn. They chose an object and asked the color.

SURPRISEEEEEEEE!

We had balloons to ask the colors.

all the students chose a balloon and then we made a podium. The student walked and asked the color of the balloon.

The first student giving the correct answer took the turn.

We also had fun.

Don't forget TO HAVE FUN while LEARNING AND TEACHING ENGLISH!!!

SEE YOU SOON!

BYEEE!

HOME SWEET HOME

MY HOUSE
We have just learned about parts of the house and things in the house.
Flashcards and videos are my best like all the times :)

let's clean up!

The video is about the rooms of the house.
We design the classroom as the rooms. And while we were listening the song we walked in the classroo and cleaned the rooms :)
I introduced the new words with the flashcards.
We played the "Magic Eyes" with the cards.
I think "Magic Eyes" is a very good way to memorize the words :)

We played a short game on sorting the things at home.

Group the students as the rooms.
(living room/ plyroom/bedroom etc.)
Stick the cards everywhere in the classroom.
Give 20 seconds to pick the cards and stick them on the board.

Play an energizing music
I have generally 15-20 students in the classrooms so such gmaes are really energize them :)

That's it!
Enjoy the game :)

And we made our modl houses by drawing, cutting, coloring :)
Thanks for the idea to this blog:

We did great!

not finished yet :)

A very creative student :)
"Karaca" is Trade mark of Utensil in Turkey :)

Students made the houses and named all the things at homeas you see above :). They practiced what they've learned by this certive activity.

Enjoy English!

JOBS (Part-2)

A GOOD SONG FOR YOUNG LEARNERS

The topic  "jobs" also covers
"What do you do?/ What does s/he do?
Where do you work?/ Where does s/he work?"

So I chose  the best song on this topic :)

We listened it again and again!
It was fun :)

It's still echoing loudly in my mind:
" People work in the country people work in the town..."

I prepared a worksheet about the song and  we listened to it more carefully.
students had fun  and achieved the aim of the subjects.
the best thing is that they did all these things with great joy.

You can download the worksheet:

I hope it will also work for you.

JOBS (Part-1)

4TH GRADERS
AND
OUR TOPIC:
 JOBS

Here we go!

I've got a warmer :)

This video made them relaxed. Especially,"He is a fisherman" part was very funny for them :)

After the video, I introduced the jobs with the flashcards
( Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos.)
I sticked them on the board and we repeated them.
then we played the game seen in the video:
activity 4: magic eyes

And then;

we asked the question " What's your job?"
All the students gave the answers with different jobs.

We prepared  "fortune teller plates" and we had much fun.
students imagined abot the 20 years later and wrote sentences about their jobs.
that's was fun :)
photoshocking students :D

And the Bulletin board
( the idea is from Pinterest - snowglobe with paperplate-)

You need:
1. colored papers
2. scissors, glue
3. pictures of different jobs
4. eager students with endless energy :)

have fun!

TELLING THE TIME AND THE DAYS

When I ask the question "What time is it?", it is still echoing  in my head :)
I hope that it is also echoing in my students heads.

This is our echoing video :

What time is it?

the monsters are in the classroom!
booooh!
(I really love monster crafts)

After the video the students could easily  ask and tell the time. I only wrote the answers and explained how to tell the minutes.

They asked why we use "a.m. or p.m."
I gave some information about it.
that's it!!!
we used the model clock to ask and tell the time :)

It's time for the days:
I used two different videos:
1.

2.

then we asked the question:
What day is it today?
Today is......
We changed the place of the marker and asked the day again and again.

These are the first step to the daily routines.

See you next time
:)

FEELINGS

Feelings with Spongebob

Of course I used a song:

I just warmedup the students. I sticked the spongebob faces and all the other materials on the board.

I asked the question:

and we acted the feelings.

We got angry, sad, energetic ... :)

Students glued the faces fom teir school book and write feelings on their notebook.

Then we were ready for the  GAME.

Each students have a partner.
One  asks The other "How are you?"
the student answers.
The students who asks the question must touch the coect face according tho his/her friends answer.

In this way, They revised the feelings they have just learnt and had fun.

YES!
That's all.
Short but Effective.

HOW MANY?

HOW MANY?

Fisrt step to asking about quantities "how many?"

The students were familiar to the phrase as I chose this song while teaching numbers.:

I chose a simple video to warm up students :)

It's both familiar and simple.

I asked at the end of the video "How many cakes?"
Almost all the students gave the answer "Ten."

And then I simply talked about plural "-s" with visuals.

GAME TIME
I split the classroom into six groups.
Each group is for each Classroom object.

And I made up a very very short story:
 It's Autumn. It's windy outside. ( wind blows here :) )
The leaves of the tree flap around. Now You are the one who pick up the leaves again and bring the Spring. :)

And then I gave them 30 seconds to pick up the leaves and stick them on the board.

They picked up and sticked the leaves very quickly. And they took an"-s" and sticked it, too.

The big "-s" snake visited all the words and gave them a photo of itself as a present. And we said the word with "ssssss" at the end because of the snake :D

Wooow! they got tired :D

So, it's song time to relax and have a rest.

we listened to the song and made a little change.

Look, pencils! How many pencils?
One pencil, two pencils, three pencils

bla bla bla..

we sang it together and asked a friend :
how many erasers?

he counted the erasers :)

we asked how many rulers?

he counted the rulers :)

We relaxed and and learnt.

We enjoyed and learnt together.

In the end we create our tree and revised the "how many?" while sticking the leaves to the tree.
the result:

:)

before  the school:

after the school :

I hope you will also enjoy the way of teaching with this game.

You can use some different videos such as:
